AHLA is exploring the option of an Online Dispute Resolution Service for resolving disputes between patients and providers regarding medical bills. Possible benefits would include reducing costs and increasing revenues for hospitals and health systems.

The Online Dispute Resolution Work Group will:
o Draft a statement of work that specifies system requirements
o Identify and evaluate potential vendors to build the system
o Identify legal issues and develop a plan to make the system compliant in all 50 states
o Conduct an environmental scan to gauge interest in the product and determine whether there are existing competitors in the marketplace
o Determine the cost to build the system, a list of potential contributors, and a plan for approaching contributors
o Determine a plan for promoting the system to users
