About the Process
Any and all AHLA members are welcome to submit an application expressing interest in being appointed to a leadership position. The application submission deadline is January 27, 2021 for the appointment term beginning July 1, 2021. Because there is so much interest in serving, a member is typically appointed to one position at a time. Terms are often staggered for members serving on the various leadership bodies to prevent everyone rotating off at the same time. As a result, there may be more or less openings available in any given year. Appointments are for a two-year term with eligibility for reappointment for an additional term. Practice Group, Affinity Group, and Task Force leaders are expected to be members of the corresponding Practice Group. To check your Practice Group designation, please follow the included link here.
If you are continuing a term or eligible for reappointment in a leadership position in a Practice or Affinity Group, or Task Force, you do not need to re-apply. The application process is for NEW leaders only.
Leadership Positions
Practice Group Leadership
A Practice Group facilitates the creation of substantive health law content for AHLA members, provides a forum for dialogue among colleagues sharing similar interests, and promotes membership engagement. Practice Group leaders help to advance the Association’s Strategic Plan by developing and delivering educational programming and publishing on specific health law topics. To be considered for leadership in the Practice Group, an individual must already be enrolled in that Practice Group.
