We're Virtual!

Every year, nearly 1,500 health law professionals join AHLA at its Annual Meeting to get the most current information and analysis on a myriad of legal issues facing the health care industry in thoughtful, practical solution-oriented sessions . This year is, of course, no different than any other in that regard.

The difference is, this year, we won’t be gathering together in-person to attend the programs as so many of us do each year. The unfortunate reality of the COVID-19 crisis makes an in-person meeting of this size untenable at this time, so AHLA has decided to convert the In-House Counsel Program and Annual Meeting to virtual programs.

View the full schedule.

We have included all the high-quality, practical breakout sessions you have come to expect - Keynote Speakers, the fast-paced overview of developments over the past year from the Year in Review, and coverage of all the TOPICS important to health law professionals. We have also included some of the fun you expect - face to face interaction with your colleagues during our Coffee and Conversations, exercise classes, and receptions - all done through Zoom. We are excited to bring you this program virtually and we know you will enjoy the experience and find it worth your time.

Special Educational Package

We are pleased to offer a special educational package. Registration fees for the virtual programs have been reduced from in-person pricing. Everyone who registers for the Annual Meeting will be able to "add on" the In-House Counsel Program for FREE. The In-House Counsel Program will be split between two days - July 9 and July 16.  That’s two great programs filled with the excellent cutting-edge educational content that you have come to expect from AHLA, two programs that by attending you can earn CLE, CPE, and CCB credits, and two chances to connect with and learn from colleagues from across the country.  Members save up to $830 off the in-person fees for both programs.

Important Notice

Wednesday, May 20, 2020: Program Schedule is posted!

Monday, May 4, 2020:
AHLA has been actively monitoring reports from the CDC, the WHO, and other organizations related to COVID-19. In response to their guidance and the California Executive Order banning group gatherings, AHLA has made the difficult decision to not hold our upcoming In-House Counsel Program and Annual Meeting in San Diego on June 28-July 1.

Already Registered for the In-Person?

Everyone who registered for only the Annual Meeting or for both the In-House Counsel Program and the Annual Meeting were automatically registered for both virtual programs. AHLA is pleased to package the programs together this year so that everyone who registers for the Annual Meeting will automatically be registered for the In-House Counsel Program as well. The registration fees paid for the in-person program(s) will be applied to registration for the virtual programs and you will receive a refund for the difference. The virtual programs will also be available on-demand so you can go back and watch it on your own schedule and still earn continuing education credits.

We know that the work you are doing to advise and support the health care industry is critical during this difficult time. AHLA is working hard to develop the educational resources you need. We value your loyalty to and involvement in AHLA and look forward to “seeing” you on June 29-July 1 at the Virtual Annual Meeting and on July 9 and 16 for the Virtual In-House Counsel Program.

Virtual In-House Counsel Program

Registering for the Annual Meeting? Be sure to ADD ON the Virtual In-House Counsel Program for FREE!  Sessions are focused on practical, hands-on ways to function in these challenging day-to-day work roles and responsibilities of in-house counsel lawyers. We will be offering two live virtual sessions on July 9 and July 16. These sessions will cover the most pressing issues and challenges in-house counsel are currently facing. Participants will be able to access these live sessions in addition to several other “on demand” presentations that can be viewed on your own time.

Continuing Education

Our educational content is ranked number one, as the most valued benefit of attending an AHLA Annual Meeting. With over 35 sessions to choose from, live or on demand - beginner to advance, including ethics, the Annual Meeting offers you the opportunity to obtain your CLE, CPE, and CCB credits from AHLA.

What is a Virtual Program?

Technology allows us to connect in a powerful way. Since we are unable to travel to San Diego, we are hosting a virtual conference to bring the profession together to meaningfully share and learn from each other.
